Amazon Chicago tech hub is expanding.

The company is hiring for 400 new jobs to the area including cloud computing, advertising, and business development positions.

Since 2010, Amazon has invested over $4.4 billion and added over 11,000 full-time jobs in Illinois, including customer fulfillment, cloud infrastructure and more. With the addition of these new jobs, the company is working toward doubling the local tech workforce. To accommodate these changes, Amazon is expanding its downtown Chicago office over 70,000 square feet.

“We’re excited to create more opportunity in Chicago – a city with terrific talent and a culture of innovation,” said Geoff Nyheim, Director Central US AWS Sales. “We look forward to doubling our teams in the Windy City, contributing to its diverse economy, and hiring local talent to fill exciting roles across Amazon.”

Amazon has been recognized as one of the top employers in the world by multiple sources. The company provided benefits to full-time employees, such as comprehensive healthcare from day one, 401(k) matching, and up to 20-weeks of paid parental leave.
