Check Out LinkedIn’s Expanded Office

“When LinkedIn first opened the doors of its Chicago office in 2008, it only occupied one floor in its West Loop building. Now, with several expansions, the California-based tech giant now occupies nearly six floors across 185,000 square feet and employs more than 750 people.

The office, at 525 W. Monroe St., features pops of color, wood accents and potted plants. Each floor is inspired either by Chicago streets, local inventions, movies filmed in Chicago or the diverse music scene found in it, said LinkedIn’s Lead Design Manager Cherish Rosas in a statement to Chicago Inno. Much of the wall décor symbolizes Chicago’s history with house and blues music.

The Z-shaped office has a game room, several kitchens, a gym and a café, where employees enjoy congregating and eating lunch. Most of the employees in LinkedIn’s Chicago office focus on sales. The open floor plan office also includes a garden room.

‘The Chicago office has an incredible buzz and energy that isn’t matched in all of our other sales-focused offices,’ Rosas said.

The latest additions to the office have been designed by San Francisco-based design firm Gensler, which has a large Chicago presence, and has also designed tech incubator 1871 and Motorola Mobility’s office.

‘Each floor of the [LinkedIn] Chicago office has a different theme deeply tied to the roots and stories of Chicago,’ said Liz Potokar, the lead Gensler designer on LinkedIn’s office.”
