Chicago’s tech talent pool got a little deeper last year.

The number of tech workers grew 2 percent in 2018 from a year earlier, according to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data analyzed by real estate firm CBRE.

Talent is the top consideration among companies such as Google, Amazon, Facebook and Salesforce, all of which have expanded in Chicago and other cities outside Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area.

The Chicago metro area has the sixth-largest pool of tech workers in North America at 166,620, just behind Dallas at 169,290. It’s well behind No. 2 New York City, which totaled 264,374, but ahead of No. 10 Los Angeles at 139,774. In 2017, Chicago was No. 7 with 140,080.” Read More
